Towards a Taxonomy of Autonomous Systems

In this paper, we present a precise and yet concise characterisation of autonomous systems. To the best our knowledge, there is no similar work, which through mathematical definition terms provides foundation for describing systems future: software-intensive their architectures. Such include robotic taxi as an example 2D mobility, or even drone/UAV taxi, in field 3D urban air mobility. The presented lead to four-level taxonomy. We describe informally formally taxonomy levels exemplarily compare them degrees automation previously proposed by SAE J3016 automotive standard.
